Yang year plus female: reverse Luck Pillars

Same birth moment as the previous case, opposite direction. The four pillars are identical; the gender input is the only difference, and the Luck Pillar sequence reverses. This is the cleanest demonstration in the suite that direction is not determined by the chart alone.

The reference Jie changes too, from the following one to the preceding one, because a reverse sequence counts backward from the birth month. That second consequence is easy to overlook: reversing the direction does not simply mirror ten-year periods, it changes which solar term anchors the start calculation, and therefore the starting age.

If you have ever compared your Luck Pillars with a sibling's and found them running opposite ways despite similar charts, this pair explains it. The difference can be gender, or it can be year-stem polarity, and both are inputs rather than computed values.

The reason gender appears in this rule at all is a question about the tradition's history rather than about arithmetic, and this page does not attempt to answer it. What the case can show is narrower and more useful: that the input is load-bearing, and that a tool which defaults or infers it can produce a different chart from one that asks.
